How to Prevent Viewers From Scrolling

If you want a higher CTV rate do these 4 things…

1) Start with your most visually engaging clip. Ask yourself: Would this stop you from scrolling? What if the video was muted?

2) Make your hook both dramatic and direct. Using the word ‘you’ can create a personal connection with viewers, while words like ‘this’ and ‘so’ work effectively at the beginning.

3) Provide a compelling reason for viewers to keep watching. This could be an answer to a question or a tantalizing detail.

4) Experiment with double-barrel hooks. For example: "Have you ever wondered how people perform this magic trick? Is it real or not?" The second question should address what viewers might be curious about.

How to Grab a Viewers Attention

In order to go viral with Shorts you NEED a high APV. (Average Percentage Viewed) I average well over 100% on all my videos and you can too if you do these 7 things.

1) Provide viewers with a compelling reason to watch until the end. Will they gain new knowledge? How will it benefit them?

2) Keep the video concise. Eliminate any audio gaps—every second counts.

3) Use a different clip for each sentence in the video. Make sure each clip matches the context and is visually engaging.

4) Ensure precise timing. Subtitles should never overlap between clips, and B-roll should align with the beginning and end of sentences.

5) Build anticipation for an answer. Structure your script so that the answer viewers are eager to know is revealed at the end.

6) Incorporate rehooks throughout the video. Adding another question midway can create the feeling that the answer is coming soon. For example: "So, how do you do this?"

7) Encourage viewers to take action. To prompt rewatching, challenge viewers to do something. For example: "Only 1% of people can pronounce this word ____." They’ll rewatch to confirm their pronunciation.
